At first sight it might seem that my work is very straightforward. I am happy to be identified with the tradition of English landscape painting. For me, however, painting is not simply about setting down what you see. There is always to be found something behind the obvious subject of the picture. Yes: my approach can be described as “representational” rather than “abstract” — but what is it that is being "represented"? Rock, pools (even artichokes!) can also be sites of mystery. I like to think that these things only suggest rather than directly depict a reality. Thank you for visiting my web site. You can click on the links to the left to navigate through my site.
